Orgelfrühling Steiermark 2020/2021

Festival Cancellations

The Orgelfrühling Steiermark Festival 2020 wanted to dedicate itself to the thematic complex of magic, miracles, myths and witchcraft. However, at short notice the events in spring 2020 had to be cancelled due to the Austrian measures to contain the corona virus, whereupon all concerts were postponed to 2021.

The program included seventeen concerts throughout Styria, including the Kammersymphonie Berlin conducted by Jürgen Bruns, a solo organ cycle in the Herz-Jesu Church with renowned guest organists, numerous first and world premieres, and several drama and literature projects on texts such as the Malleus Maleficarum ('Hammer of Witches', 15th. Century), Eveline Hasler's novel Anna Göldin, last witch or the Cautio Criminalis (Friedrich Spee).

Unfortunately, the events could not take place in 2021 as planned.

Project Transformation

For the 2021 season, the project was transformed into a new format, presenting artistic ideas, program elements and productions from the Orgelfrühling Steiermark online throughout the year.
