Pöllau Collegiate Church

In the heart of the historic town of Pöllau you find the present-day castle and former monastery of the Augustinian canons.

Today, the castle houses the exhibition center Echophysics, European Center for Physics History, as well as several event halls, the music school Pöllau-Vorau-Joglland, the parsonage and the church.

The ground plan and domed structure of the church, built on the foundation walls of a former moated castle in the 17th century, earned it the popular name "Styrian St. Peter's Basilika".

The baroque organ by Georg Mitterreither (1741) is one of the most valuable historical instruments in the country. It was restored in 1989 by Helmut Allgäuer.
